Well, technically dual-heads allows you to send IR to two devices -
but only if the thing doing the controlling can do that. And the same
IR comes out of both emitters.

The Sony model TiVos - the SVR-2000 and 3000 - did this to a limited
degree. They could control a cable box or satellite receiver, like a
normal TiVo, but they could also control certain models of Sony VCR.
So when you used the 'Save to VCR' functionality they could
automatically start the VCR recording and stop it when the playback
was complete. It was just a little unique feature Sony added. They
used the standard TiVo twin-head IR cable, you just pointed one at the
cable box and one at the VCR.

The Slingbox Pro is similar. With the HD Connect cable you can
connect up to 4 devices to the Slingbox Pro, and it comes with a
4-headed IR cable. But each of the 4 emitters transmits the same
output - so you can only control devices that don't use the same
codes. In other words, you couldn't control two cable boxes with one
Slingbox Pro - they don't give you a way to change the IR codes. But
you can control multiple TiVos, since TiVo has 10 remote addresses
available in each box.

You know, I'm not sure if the S2DT accepts cable box input over RF - I
no longer have one here to check. But I know that it can't control
multiple cable boxes. That's why the documentation says it can record
two analog channels or one analog and one digital channel.
