I've missed a few recordings because sometimes one of the cablecards in my S3 stops working; i.e. when I try to tune an HD station I get a blank screen and nothing is recorded, not even the live buffer. Rebooting the TiVo makes the cablecard start working again. This has been an occasional problem, but this week the cablecard was out for a few days and then yesterday, less than 24 hours after rebooting, the problem happened again. When I went into the cablecard diagnostics, it said that the HD channels were being successfully tuned, but all I got was black with no signal. Also, before looking at the diagnostics and testing the cablecards, one was still working, but after this activity, neither card was working. Again, after rebooting both cards worked properly.
I would suspect a faulty cablecard, but when the problem can be fixed by rebooting TiVo and made worse by playing with TiVo diagnostics, I begin to suspect TiVo. Any suggestions on who I should call first? Jim [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
