My daughter's boyfriend believes that even the limited functionality (quoted from MZ's post, below) will cease altogether if the unit is unable to connect to service after a period of time - like 2 weeks.
Does anyone know if this is true, and if so, how long exactly, and whether ANY functions will remain? I ask this because I will be activating the new unit and was hoping that I could at least use the old one on another older set to pause live TV. I don't really have a need for multiple subscriptions, so I was thinking that I'd unhook the old unit from my network prior to cancelling the service on it.
