Hmm...I'll have to do some more investigating. I don't care about the cost
of the cable box since my employer pays for that as well as the cable
internet set up. I actually think I have an RF modulator in my box of
miscellaneous cables I carry with me.

If the TV *only* has the RF antenna/cable input then you'll need an RF
modulator to connect TiVo to it. But those are fairly cheap.

I'd really go with the TiVo HD, which is around $220-$230 via
Amazon.com. (Prices on TiVo.com tend to be full MSRP.) The S2DT
doesn't work with antenna at all, just cable or satellite. It is
dual-tuner only for analog cable. Digital cable, or satellite,
requiresd an external box (cable box, satellite receiver) and is
restricted to just one channel. The TiVo HD is dual-tuner for antenna
or cable - analog or digital, but doesn't do satellite. The TiVo HD
is also HD of course, while the S2DT is SD only.

While the TiVo HD is a bit more up front you wouldn't need a cable
box. You would need a cable card for digital cable - but those range
from free to $5/month, depending on the cable MSO, much less than the
cable box. So you save in the long run. And you have the advantage
of HD and dual-tuners, plus the option of using antenna for ATSC which
menas you might do without digital cable, depending on what you watch.
