Are you sure it has been removed? I can't count the number of times I've seen someone say "I can't believe the removed X backdoor" when they haven't, and the end result is "Huh, it still works, don't know why it didn't seem to work when I tried before." This happens often with the 30-second skip and on-screen clock backdoors, mainly since they're the most popular. But if they did remove it, keep in mind any of the SPS codes aren't official features, they're mainly engineering backdoors that were/are used in development and testing but that were discovered by users/hackers and posted online. TiVo may not deliberately remove them, they may just break if related code is changed. Since they aren't features and aren't supported, TiVo doesn't necessarily make an effort to preserve them when doing the real work on the code. And in the past sometimes what a shortcut does has changed, probably because engineering decided a different function fit their needs better. What's unusual is that I haven't seen anyone else mention this going away - not on this list or other TiVo lists I'm on, not on alt.video.ptv.tivo, no comments on my blog or the tivolovers LJ community - though I admit I haven't had time to scour TiVoCommunity.com so maybe I missed something there. But the point is whenever TiVo does remove or change one of these for real I always seem multiple people post about the change.
