Noted. Thanks. >> It's probably easy enough to just ignore mailing lists altogether >> (Although, I haven't thought very much about the possible >> implications of doing this) > >I'm not sure what you mean by this? I just haven't thought about whether or not there might be bounces from an email I send to a mailing list that I want to handle better than I do. Off the top of my head there don't seem like there ought to be, but I haven't spent much time thinking about it. So, for example, what happens when I send an email to a mailing list with a bare envelope address, but the mailing list (for some unknown reason) no longer recognizes my bare address and sends me a bounce? Well, I don't have the bouncer listed in any of my whitelists, so TMDA is going to have to send a confirmation request to the bouncer. Ok, so that's an unlikely scenario. But that's what I mean when I say I haven't thought much about it. It seems like there might be some situation where I want to either: 1) Get the bounced message because it contains information indicating that there's some problem with my subscription to the mailing list. 2) Handle the bounce more civially, i.e. it's something that I want to ignore, but I don't want to send back a TMDA response to the bouncer. Obviously when I subscribe to a mailing list with a sender address, there's pretty much nothing I can do. But for all of those other mailing lists... Anyway, I haven't really put enough effort into thinking about this, and I'm mostly happy with my current plan.
