Jason, that's good news that it's supposed to be fast. I'm sure I'm just
missing a setting. Perhaps the sendmail/smtp setting that Cory was speaking
about. I'm not certain where that would be configured though. It's a fresh
1.0 installation, so it sounds like it should default to the proper one.

$ tmda-sendmail -V
TMDA/1.0 "Cannonade" (Python/2.2.3 on linux-i686)

Here are my times. It's ugly.
$ time mutt josh < .bashrc

real    0m5.731s
user    0m4.850s
sys     0m0.110s

CPUs: Dual P3-550's

$ cat ~/.tmda/filters/outgoing
to-file /home/josh/.tmda/lists/whitelist tag envelope dated=10d from bare
to-file /home/josh/.tmda/lists/confirmed tag envelope dated=10d from bare

In most cases, tmda-sendmail's overhead should be negligable. Only a
fraction of a second per message on my machine:

  $ time mutt johndoe < .bashrc

  real    0m0.212s
  user    0m0.148s
  sys     0m0.033s

What is the output of `tmda-sendmail -V' on your machine? How fast is
the processor on your machine? How much slower per message is mutt
with tmda-sendmail compared to mutt without? Also, please post your
~/.tmda/filters/outgoing file for us to look at.
