Good on Gentoo for including that by default! I actually went with Postfix on my new Gentoo box, it was on my FreeBSD box I had to search for patches. But I think I found the same patch - it's very useful and easy to configure.
Thanks a lot for the useful advice! This simplifies the mail setup for my home network immensely.
