What's wrong with the unstable Debian package for 2.2.1?  2.2.1 is
production worthy.

Perhaps.  I just meant as of the first official release.

You'll still need Python 2.2 or above, as other areas of tmda-ofmipd
require it as well.  If you don't want to replace your system's
/usr/bin/python, you could install 2.2 along side and just have
tmda-ofmipd users start the daemon with that version (i.e, 
% python2.2 /path/to/tmda-ofmipd --args).
