I agree that strictly from a user's perspective it should not matter.

However, for a user to use TMDA, it requires that someone install it
somewhere -- and that means Python must be installed somewhere.  

I believe that since Python hasn't been that popular here and it
hadn't historically handled Japanese that well (by now a cycle?), less
has been written in Japanese (e.g. books, net discussions, etc.) than
some of the alternatives, so since there are alternatives that process
Japanese better [1], I don't think it should come as a surprise that
it gets installed or used less often [2].

So, I think the popularity of Python is likely to have some impact on
whether any given user gets a chance to use TMDA.

Does that make sense?


[1] Or used to anyway -- I hear Python's support has improved.

[2] It's probably obvious, but just in case -- I believe most Japanese
    who live in Japan are only comfortable w/ one language...and that
    language is not English (-;
