That's very interesting. Needless to say, I didn't know that. :) If you do not mind, I would like to follow your progress on such a qfilter. This is getting OT now, but I wonder why nobody has created an equivalent for Postfix's local_recipient_maps for qmail, if accounts can be validated at the SMTP level. I realize the whole *-default thing makes it tricky, but still I would think there would be a way to do it. I have been contemplating putting Postfix in front of qmail just to be able to do recipient validation. Anyway, good luck with the script, it sounds interesting.
