Well, you could get rid of the expired dated addresses in your
{pending,mail server} queue simply by setting
ACTION_EXPIRED_DATED = "bounce"
in ~/.tmda/config. And possibly modifying BOUNCE_TEXT_EXPIRED_DATED to
say whatever you want.
If you modify your bounce.txt template so that it provides instructions
for what if they got that message, then you can do basically what
you're wanting to do and what Jesse appears to want. Your friends get
the process that they need to get their email through to you, and Jesse
gets his {pending,mail server} queue clean.
