I still have a hard time believing this patch breaks the "default" notion of qmail extension addresses. That is, mail to jasonrm-foo-123 and mail to jasonrm-foo-abc will both be handled by .qmail-foo-default.
Well it doesn't stop this behavior but both jasonrm-foo-123 and jasonrm-foo-abc would need to be in goodrcptto or moregoodrcptto.cdb.
Have you checked to make sure that this isn't possible with your patch? This functionality is a core qmail feature, and with or without TMDA, it would be a big loss.

Think about how many one-time confirmation addresses will be in this file after a period of time if it grows without bounds like this.
Yes, that's one of the things I'm worried about, but I haven't found any other way in qmail to deny email connections that are to an invalid user. The original reason I wanted to use the patch is to help keep the server load down, the machine I have available is a 733 Celeron with 256mb of RAM which is plenty for qmail, but I'm also running spamassassin, etc. on here and I'm concerned what will happen if we get joe jobbed, or even just loaded up with queue messages from spam bounces.
I don't think this will be worth your time. You're better off figuring out how to get default or "wildcard" extension addresses working again in qmail.
*sigh* You're probably right, which means I'm going to have to learn C in addition to the fourteen other languages I already know. Guess it was inevitable once I started playing with open source stuff.
