I understand, but how about selectively allowing mail to user-confirm-* so that TMDA works while still refusing mail to all other unknown addresses? Does it have to be all or nothing?
That would be my preferred choice, I have yet to convince the patch creator to implement this, and currently don't have the skills to do it myself, though I may decide to develop them if I can't come up with another solution.

How about asking the author of the patch and/or the qmail mailing list about this issue first? It's possible someone else has into it before.
I'll probably try the qmail list next (after putting on flame retardant garments) but the patch has only been out for a few months, I'm not sure anyone else has tried it with this configuration as of yet. Thanks for the assistance, I'm continually amazed how helpful people are in the open source world. (at least as long as you do your homework, hehe)
