Hi Natalie, I used to get terrible debilitating spasms, along with posturing. At the end, they were coming 20-30 times per day. They hospitalised me two years ago to determine what type they were, and ended up putting me on Tegretol. Currently I take 800mgs per day and it's wiped them out. Occasionally, I will have breakthrough spasms, but I am able to ride them out. Neuro told me that the type of medication depends on what type of spasm they are, (Tonic, clonic, dystonic--I think I got that right.)
