I also swim a lot. My PT explained to me that because of the weightless in the
water , you have a better bloodstream in the leggs. You can exercise in the
water without using the muscles power. I too have a lot of benefits of my
swimming.

Regarding the exercise question...I have found that over exercising is
detrimental to my condition. We want to exercise in the hope we will feel
better...but in the case of TM this is not true. I have gone from going to the
gym 4 times a week for a couple hours each time to simply swimming 3 times a
week for 45 minutes. I am getting some good cardio and I am not letting my
muscles atrophy. Swimming was recommended to me by Dr. Kerr and since going on
this regiment I feel better and less fatigued. I am also not messing up my
knees and or hips. The best thing about swimming is that I can now run...in the
pool...and not worry about falling!

About the exercisings you do, dont overdo. It breakes more than it builds up.
The exercises you have to do is for maintain the muscles. When you try to build
up, the effect can be the opposit. Take care Wim

Thanks Wim - interesting - - have you tried Baclofen? I also can walk (with
walker) and since taking baclofen pills for 1 1/2 weeks, it has gotten harder
to do - especially getting up - I have been blaming it on over-exercise, I have
been getting down on the floor & doing some exercises a couple of days per
week, and I am going to stop for a while to see if it improves.

My neuro told me that a pump is not a good idea. Because the stiffness I can
stand on my legs, even walk a little with crutches. Handy for going to a toilet
or take a shower. When a pump is installed, standing is out of the question, no
stiffnes and bad feelings is one, but no function is for me out of the
question. Wim> Date: Fri, 22 Aug 2008 16:18:32 -0400> From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]>
