the PT I had was wonderful, till the ins ran out, now I just do my rhab yuor body at home dvd. I want to get back to a gym to strength train my leg and do some balance exercises. But I did find when we went away to Fla, and we walked everywhere, the universal parks, sea world etc...my shin and ankle had soooo much pain (Ortho said it was the walking)....so overdoing I agree with..I think it hurts ore than helps. ~Krissy~ We are all in this together, by ourselves. - Lily Tomlin

We want to exercise in the hope we will feel better...but in the case of TM this is not true. I have gone from going to the gym 4 times a week for a couple hours each time to simply swimming 3 times a week for 45 minutes. I am getting some good cardio and I am not letting my muscles atrophy. Swimming was recommended to me by Dr. Kerr and since going on this regiment I feel better and less fatigued. I am also not messing up my knees and or hips. The best thing about swimming is that I can now run...in the pool...and not worry about falling! It breakes more than it builds up. The exercises you have to do is for maintain the muscles. When you try to build up, the effect can be the opposit. I also can walk (with walker) and since taking baclofen pills for 1 1/2 weeks, it has gotten harder to do - especially getting up - I have been blaming it on over-exercise, I have been getting down on the floor & doing some exercises a couple of days per week, and I am going to stop for a while to see if it improves. Because the stiffness I can stand on my legs, even walk a little with crutches. Handy for going to a toilet or take a shower. When a pump is installed, standing is out of the question, no stiffnes and bad feelings is one, but no function is for me out of the question.
