Hi Greenwillow and list peeps!
I know it's a little early but I
got to thinking today and I had some ideas for next year's fanfiction
awards (assuming your doing them next year too).
~We have a substitute team standing in for Dawnatello this
year. Usually she handles this whole thing herself.
You
know how regular award shows like you see on tv only pertain to the past
year. Instead of seeing the same fics nominated over and over again each
year, how about only nominate fics that were written in the past year,
starting from after nominations of this year are over and ending before
nominations begin for the next year. This would make the awards more
interesting, encourage people to write more fics, and it encourages people
to read more fics.
~You know, I really like this idea. You're right-- all the "old standards"
get recycled every year in different categories, and after four years, it
might well be time to change the format.
And it really would give a kick in the fanny to those authors who take
::cough:: three years::cough:: to
complete a fic....
Someone could try to compile a list of all of the fics they can
find that were written during that time period with links and ask the
lists and ppl surfing the site if there are any missing fics. Then when
nominating, this list can be used to make all of the nominations.

think HT mentioned that the soon-to-be-in-place database program would
help to keep those new fics identified.
Also a fic cannot be nominated unless it is complete

(unless u want to have a best incomplete fic category). Since there are
more fics being written now then there were when the first awards started,
this could work. The categories could be changed a bit. For example, a
best classic fic category could be added so that an older fic could be
included.
~I think this is a great idea, actually. Even if it means I
might have to actually finish within the next 12 months this thing I've
started.
Another fun category that I have thought of is worst fic but for
this category you can only nominate yourself(this also doesn't have to be
a new fic).
~I could think of one of mine-- omg-- I just realized
something. Those stories posted at my site that were the FanFic Challenge
Entries-- I never gave those to HT for the Archives! Those were like,
what? -- seven or eight brand new short stories this year!
Agh!
