Thanks! I tried out this patch but #{pane_search_string} is not
being populated: it remains empty even after performing a search:
$ echo pane1 pane2 pane3
pane1 pane2 pane3
$ tmux copy-mode \; send -X search-backward pane
# NOW PRESS Q (OR WHATEVER) TO EXIT THE COPY-MODE
$ tmux display-message -p 'query="#{pane_search_ostring}"'
query=""
Am I doing something wrong?
