Hi list,

if I want to see the actual version-number, normally there exist a
parameter like --version.

With thtnet, ther version comes, if i call it without any parameters.
Furthermore, the version seems wrong for me. (2.2rc2).

Maybe it would be a good idea to include a version parameter?

Furthermore, in other programs, the git-version is also included (as date).

I.e. the actual tntnet form 3 okt 2013 could have the version number

  tntnet-2.2_git20131003
or
  tntnet-2.2rc2_git20131003
or
  tntnet-2.2rc2+git20131003

This seems relativly simple scriptable. I.e. we coould write

1. a git-hook for every commit, which updates a file named "VERSION" in
the top of the source-directory
2. a macro, which includes the version number into the apropriate
cpp-file, so that i.e. a tntnet --version prints the recent version.

Open issue: What is todo for get a version in cxxtools?

Whats your opinion?

Regards,
Oliver
