I do not feel that enthusiasm is lost in the group. It is not so. We have so
many new members, friends of our members, all of them are eager to
participate if we convene a meeting.
The problem, (it is always there, right from the beginning), is that our
members do not respond to mails. When I complain, they say that if they do
not respond means, they are ok with it. The reason why I cancelled the
meeting is that I got the hints like most people may not turn up.
Initially I used to ring up people and request/compel/threaten etc., to
attend the meeting :) After Vani, Arun and Co. joined, they took care of the
meetings and invitations. They made calls. This time as they are busy in
office work, they couldn't do so.
Anyways this is the right time that we bring this issue up. For how long, we
can accept this 'no response' mode of our members!!
Friends, please realize. It doesn't take much time to respond either through
mail or phone. You anyways know that our meeting will be on first sunday and
if not second sunday. If you can search your mailbox or group site for
meeting, you will get particular mails.
I know all of us are active. I really mean it. When we say that something is
important and urgent, most of us are ready to do it at any cost. They came
in office hours and work overtime during nights and weekends. I am really
proud and happy to say this about our members.
Only problem with them is meetings. Why is it so? If you do not like
something, you open up. Without you saying, how can we know?
Kasyap told that our group (in Hyderabad) is tyrannic instead of democratic.
He says that I compel everyone to attend the meeting. Once all members
gather, I ask them to come up with their suggestions. I listen to the
suggestions of everyone and at the end say that 'all of you are wrong, this
is my opinion, this is correct and we will proceed that way' :))))))
Is it so? Is that the reason you do not want to attend the meetings?
I know why he commented so. In a monthly meeting, for a discussion on
campaigns (medical), I spoke very emphatically and I explained them why
their opinion is not correct and what are our plans/ideas etc., There is a
reason on why I responded so. Usually our meetings get stretched and we do
not generally come to a conclusion. We discuss on and on, on one particular
point and keep on arguing over it. That takes us nowhere. It became very
necessary to remind people to stick to the topic and discuss the important
concerns.
I wanted to be more formal and conduct the meeting as professional as
possible. That is why when they come up with their doubts, I immediately
explained on why it is not so and what are our plans.
I am ready to correct myself, if needed. I have no problem to skip the
meeting and let you people decide on everything. I have very good confidence
on our members and I am sure we take decisions based on consensus only.
Also I do not agree that the group revolves around me. As I have more
accessibility to NET and as I do not have any other avocation, as I know all
members, rather all members know me, I am only visible. But the group will
and can stand without me, at any point of time, even now. May be initially
things will slow down a little bit first, but we will soon gain the pace.
The following are the pending meetings:
1. Regular meeting of our members.
-- Responsibility of our members to bring the new members whom they
introduced.
Agenda -- already mailed. New topic is FDP. Discussion on it is very
important.
2. Meeting with like-minded groups.
3. Meetings of different subgroups - Education, Health and FDP.
-- Yes. We need a separate team for FDP.
I hope our members will respond to this thread. We are open to criticism.
Please come up, share your views. Why are you hesitant on attending the
meetings? Unavoidable and very important works, we can understand.
As our meeting is scheduled - first sunday of every month, can't we reserve
time for our group? I am not talking in general.
You please come up with your choice of date, time and venue. Please note
that venue is not fixed. If at all that is Krishnakanth Park this month,
next month it would be in Public Gardens. The next month it would be KBR
park. Let us not vote only for nearer place. Sometime we should be ready to
go to a distant place.
We should also think of places near Dilshukh Nagar. We have Vani and Sarath,
staying near by. They are coming all the way from that place. Why don't we
all go there once?
