Well, When I read about meeting notices, I get to read that NO REASONS, SAY
ONLY YES OR NO. Now that Prasanthi asked why NO from me, I will say that,
articles published in e-papers/e-media get good coverage and when the case is
genuine ( I do not have the slightest doubt about the genuinity of this case),
many people come forward to help.
And my way of helping someone is to pick up from base level, get the patient
to some government hospital and then decide where to get the
dialysis/transplant done. There are hospitals where the same procedure can be
done for a substantially less price without quality being affected. Aware
people must be knowing about it. I feel if I can direct such people to such
sources, that would be a great help from my side because by doing that, we are
reducing their expenses burden.
This is the way I think. But as usual, I never say no to anything good, I am
not saying do not help the patient. I simply said my opinion. But I know we go
by majority. For FDP also I never said NO. I know about the ground reality and
position of volunteers. Hence I was no so enthusistic about it.
In a mail earlier, I have written about a scheme called AROGYA SREE. If you
know any patient who needs surgery (hole in heart or any CHD) and having a
white ration card, send them to Mediciti Hospitals. This will be a great help
to them without really sponsoring money.
I will try to attend tomorrow's meeting too. But in case I can not, then
please discuss my following point:
1. Like Divya suggested, I would like to insist on a different allocation
ratio for different causes. Say 20% of all the incoming funds would be spent
for education cases. So I mean to say, unless specified for a particular cause,
I would like 20% of all the funds coming to the group to be spend on education.
Senders to note the same. 10% to be kept for contigency. 15% for other DPs.
While saying 15% of the incoming fund, I mean to say general contribution and
donation. Special contributions for a DP/any other project would be utilised as
per the instruction. So balance 55% would be available for medical cases.
2. For medical cases, I have already given my opinion. Instead of giving
money directly, let them reach to the sources of help. They will get the
benefit, we need not spend more. And wherever possible, direct/help the
patients of government/semi-govt hospitals. I feel people who can opt for a
corporate hospital, have means to pay the bill off (atleast in 95% cases, it is
true.).
3. on FDP too, again I am saying that I am not convinced with one time meal
distribution, on Sundays, at the cost of our time (ask a person like me who
works 6 days a week, 15 hours a day, what is the meaning of a Sunday.). Thats
why I felt, depending on the budget, we may take it on a more regular basis
where our involvement would be limited to surprise checks after the initial
set-up takes off.
4. I would request members to write their opinions on WHY WE NEED TO BE
REGISTERED. Members who feel we shall register, may give their opinion. And if
finally we are going to be registered, then who is ready/suitable for which
position. Let me make it clear once more, Secretary, Treasurer and President
would be having more headaches because of paper work and audit. So plan
accordingly.
5. Keep meetings only for the 1st Sundays, at some pre-fixed time..month
after month. This we have already decided in the previous meetings. Suddenly if
you call for a meeting, you may not get enough members to discuss something
concrete.
