School information:

Location: Ambedkar Nagar, Rethibowli, mehdipatnam, 500028
There are around 120 houses in this slum area. (Kind of small slum when
compared to many other areas in the city, surrounded by rich houses around.
at the first glance, it is little difficult to acknowledge the existence of
a slum in this rea. But it is true. all houses are very small in nature and
belong to daily wage workers. it is not that they do not earn, they earn
decent amount per day around 150 to 300, but they lack momentum especially
in educating their children. you can find the photographs of the school and
its environment in my picasa albums.

The school:
Classes - 1 to 5.
facilities: 1 room, 1 hall (hall is built by donations). There are few
donors like naveen of IBM(he donated computer), TMAD (not book and slippers
donation).
Teachers: 2 (Mr. Naresh headmaster, Mr. Tara singh). But at present Mr. Tara
singh is on long leave pursing his higher studies(B.Ed). He will be joining
the school after this december mostly probably). There is one private
teacher(may be vidya volunteer) who is helping Mr. Naresh is running the
school.

Mr. Naresh (M.Sc, B.Ed) has brought good amount of motivation in the school
children and specially the parents. He persuied them to keep their children
clean and send them to the school properly. There is great change in the
parents attitude as well, the way they used to come to school previously and
now. Now they come better dressed and keeping themselves clean.

Naandi foundation used to help the school, but right now there is no
visibility of this foundation into this school activiites.
I must mention Reddy foundation efforts, their volunteers help the students
through cultural means.I met one Mr.Sudharshan who helped children to
perform a skit called "Vennela" on august 15. it was a fantastic show. you
can find the snaps on my picasa album (links given above).

As Per Mr. Naresh, Mr. Srinivas reddy of SSA (Sarva Siksha Abhiyan) promosed
to release around 4 to 5 lakhs to build 1st follor for the school, provided
we gather 1 lakh rupee. Colony workers can help building the facility by
working at low wages to build the same.

Some time back I spoke with Mr. Srinivas Reddy, he confirmed the details
about SSA contribution. He was really appreciative of our effort.

If we can generate around 75K to 1 Lakh We can build few small rooms in the
first floor and help the children have good education.

Thanks
Harinath
