Dear friends, Income generation activities for funding social service projects is a good idea which needs to be deliberated extensively.
Any income generation activity is an entrepreneurship exercise, which will have different phases. It needs planning and investments, and time and team to execute. With my experience I can say it is not easy job, because of creativity and concentration levels it requires and management and investment aspect of it. But if successful, this model will be very useful and provide solutions for many problems. I feel the ideas presented should be * simple and scalable, * there should be profits, * beneficiaries themselves should be able to manage them, * if they are part of solutions to environment and society, that would be great. Funding and investment can be a issue. But we can involve the corporate sector to be part of it by convincing them. All companies, will be ready to sponsor if they see the service point and also it will increase the their brand value. Until now three ideas are presented in the online excel datasheet. 1) Mobile library, 2) Plantations and saplings 3) small scale manufacturing Some other ideas like grocery stores etc were also discussed. If we can continously discuss on this subject it will provide us with long term sustainable results.
