It will run on any platform that there is a JVM for (must support the same
as Sun's 1.1 releases). This basically means Solaris, Linux, Windows, AIX,
HP-UX, IRIX.. you get the point - it will run on most every computing
platform out there.

Is your question does it implement and utilize digital certificates (like
for HTTPS) or does it implement them correctly (like you want to look at the
source and verify for yourself/corporate auditing group that it works
correctly)? Yes it does support using digital certificates for HTTPS.
Tomcat uses Sun's Java Security API and you would have to check with them
for the source for any kind of audit.

About $5,000 per license. You can make the check out to me personally if
you want.... I'm kidding - Tomcat is distributed under the Apache Software
Foundation's Standard License, which makes the software free to use and
pretty much free to distribute (you have to mention somewhere in the
application that you are using Tomcat).
