I don't have thoughts on JBoss 4 setup. I recommend what I always have: evaluate your needs carefully and don't make design or deployment decisions, such as placing Apache in front of tomcat, because of something you once heard/read somewhere three years ago. There are cases where Apache in front of tomcat is invaluable, and there are just as many cases where it's a hindrance.
