It happends when an instance of tomcat is already running. What you should do, is to kill this instance and start your tomcat.
The classic way is by using the tomcat stop command, but if you have removed the reference on the AJP12 connector, it won't work anymore. If you're using a linux box, the use the ps command to see the java process that undergoes tomcat (try ps -ax | grep java), then kill it.
On NT, try using the task manager.
 
Then you can start again your tomcat, but don't remove the AJP12 connector !!

I tried to start Tomcat after I stopped Apache.
However I got the message:
"java.net.bindexception
adress already in use"
What is the reason for this?
I have already modified the server.xml-file
and removed the  references to one of the connectors.
