Sorry, I can't help you with #1, I'm not familiar with what that is...I edit
server.xml directly.

For #2, there are a couple of different options, basically to get something
without a port number on the URL you either need to add a second HTTP
connector on port 80 and run tomcat as root (not recommended, but that's my
preference as a sys-admin) or combine Tomcat with Apache, run Apache (or
some other webserver) on port 80 and configure the webserver to send certain
requests to Tomcat via a webserver connector.
