I am against the idea.
unpack.s/buildit.s aready allows you to "edit rc.custom prior to processing"
Can I suggest (instead) that a HOWTO style document is written, that talks
about how to customise your own tomsrtbt. This document could cover things
like:
- How tomsrtbt works (and so why you can not remove bzip2 or cpio from your
customised version)
- What those variables in setting.s do.
- and some example changes you could make, for example:
-- changing how your NIC is setup
-- do not prompt for such-and-such (eg. always use french keyboard)
-- removing (say) pcmcia stuff to fit (say) rsync, telnet, whatever
-- etc.
