A proposal to integrate (a new version of) vim into the WOS, rather than relegating it to the companion cd, as it is now. The discussion thread starts here: http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=10314&tstart=0 It basically bogged down on the details: - what GUI toolkit, if any - which language bindings - whether we should modify vim so that said language bindings could be dynamic - what to name the associated binaries that come with vim -- ex and view, in particular, since they conflict with existing binaries - and that leads to the question of whether we should scrap the vi we already have in favor of vim, and the compatibility issues that arise with that No one wanted to make any decisions on that, so it's left where it is. The easy route right now would be to make a decision on the toolkit, use all the language bindings available on the CCD and upgrade the vim on the CCD, leaving the really hard questions for someone else. :) Danek _______________________________________________ tools-discuss mailing list tools-discuss@opensolaris.org
