Updating "vi" should be a seperate project. vim can be intruduced without any namespace collision. We are still leaving the door open for refactoring vi to use vim or one of the other clones at a later date.
One additional note. vim's ex and view should be called by using "vim -e" and "vim -R". This way we don't create any new "artifacts". (Alternatively named ex and view) It will be cleaner down the road, if you ever decide to merge vi and vim. Cheers, -brian
