This is more or less true for the package naming scheme, but doesn't say

that everything (like Veritas, NetBackup, ...) be installed into /usr
instead of /opt? If not, there needs to be some way to control the /opt

I was talking about package namespace as opposed to filesystem namespace :)
You'd have to ask an ARC member or someone else familiar with the
process what the plans are there. However, I suspect that, yes, in the
future most software will deliver to /usr as many are being moved there now.
With very few exceptions, this is about Sun software where clashes can be
avoided internally. It's not immediately obvious how this extends to
unbundled software.
