Hi,
First, my apologies that this change hasn't happened yet. And an update.
There is a companion list to opensolaris-bugs: opensolaris-rfe.
So I will do the following if there are no objections:
- This week: Send email tomorrow (Friday) to both lists explaining
that each will be de-commissioned next week: the forums turned off
and an auto-responder set up on each mailing list.
- Next week: Turn off the forums and set up the auto-responses.
Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks to Alan for pointing out this very old list. I definitely think
it should be decommissioned.
I also like Tim's idea of having an auto-responder.
Since there have been no objections to removing this, I will proceed
with doing that.
Next week the forum will be removed and an auto-response set up on the
mailing list that will remain in place for some amount of time to help
people transition. When Michelle has a landing page in place, the
auto-response can be changed to point to that.
Thanks.

For some reason, people keep sending bug reports to the
opensolaris-bugs
mailing list/web forum, where they mostly get ignored, because no
one much
watches it. I can't find anywhere that tells people to use it, yet
you
can see they are:

Is it time to remove it so that it's more obvious it's not a useful
way to
report a bug?
Probably remove the forum, but as for the mailing list, I'd say keep it,
but set it up with an auto-responder that informs the original sender
how to log a bug via the standard mechanisms.
The reason that list/forum exists is b/c when we first launched the
site b.o.o. was very limited in how many categories it could support
and there was no installation of bugzilla. It's basically an artifact
of an earlier time.
We can definitely remove it, so long as it's not filing a gap between
b.o.o. and bugzilla.
Derek
- yes I know that information is likely on a website somewhere, but some
people respond better by to being told what to do via email, rather us
expecting them to take the time to read up on how to log bugs properly.
cheers,
tim
