Viewing differences is an interesting aside. I've noticed that although NT format is easily predictable the order written out never is and thus will confuse Eclipse file diff, not sure which format is best for solving this problem but you could consider just using a different file compare utility that is better. Altova XML Spy has a really good one for XML which might make the irregularity that Scott speaks of a non-issue. Also, WinMerge is pretty good on Windows.
