Just to confirm.
Using Thg 0.6 on Win Xp.

When the Changlog viewer first comes up, no rows are selected or highlighted.
The first row (in my repo) has the word "default" rendered within a green
background and the word "tip" rendered in a yellow background.

All of these are readable for me.

Now if I now select a row it has a blue background. Normal text looks fine.
But words which already have a background colour such as "default" and "tip"
mentioned above are hard to see. This is because the blue row background ends up
turning the text white... but in these cases it is still embedded in a yellow or
green square... 

Is that that issue you are describing when you mention the "highlight effect"?
