Hello all in Maddieland,
Well Gazza laid out many facts and figures to illustrate why Madness would
be deserving winners of the Brits lifetime achievement award and I
remembered another couple of facts which backs this up.
They were the first act ever to have their first 20 singles all top 20 in
the UK!
They were the most successful singles band of the 80s in the UK, despite
splitting up in 1986.
And if Drip Fed Fred can make the Top 40, they'll be the first act to have
Top 40 hits in each of the last 4 decades, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s(that
doesn't look right!). David Bowie has had "hits" in each decade since the
60s and the Pet Shop Boys and Eurythmics have now managed to clock up top
40 hits in the last 3 decades.
