Oh, but I do suppose one can hear the difference between a lossless and
a HQ lossy (320CBR) in a car. Its enough to know where to listen to. The
ambient noise (with a reasonably modern car) is often too constant on
motorways, and easily discarded from the brain listening process.

I have exactly the same problem: I'm actually _obliged_ to rip my CDs
to HQ lossy, just for the car. If I could have only one copy, it would
simplify things a lot.
HDs cost nothing anymore, I really don't see why I would maintain two
copies...
