When the people who design the system and write the code say so, I tend
to believe them. Especially when it is clear that making a trip to the
NAS every time to generate a list of albums, artists, genres, etc
cannot possibly be as fast as accessing local storage. But if you're
not convinced, then be my guest and try it yourself. All it takes is
some simple mount commands or edits to /etc/fstab on the Touch. And as
peterw suggests, you could try using the --cachedir command line option
to put the database on an SD card. I'd be happy if you were correct, so
please report back on your experience.
