I have a 1.5 TB WD Elements connected via USB to the Touch. I have a lot of trouble with connection. I regularly get messages saying the Touch is trying to connect. Or sometimes where it can't connect only for it to connect after a wait. Hugely frustrating. I have about 600 GB of music on it. I don't think this is too big of a collection for the Touch to handle. All music is FLAC. I don't think it's the HD either. It's newer than the Touch. Once I pull up an album (about 40 seconds when working well), it play songs through the album very well.
