I do not need to be convinced, I know what the Squeezebox is about and
what it is good at having owned a SB2, SB3 and transporter. The main
thing is its ability to play music and be controlled a large music
database across the living room with a standard look remote control.

I spent months converted all my music to Apple Lossless to be used with
my Macbook pro based audio system, with the understanding that it is
supported by the Squeezebox.

So your stereotypification of my usage of the box is unfounded. And I
am as much a Squeezebox fanboy as you are, except I expect it to
perform the two basic functions that it used to perform well, play
music from across the room with a remote control.
