I'm using a WD 640 GB Passport, which goes to sleep after 10 minutes of inactivity. Its indicator light blinks every 2-3 seconds. I left the Touch in standby mode for 2 days. I woke the Touch, and the drive woke right up, and I was able to select and play music right away. I don't know if it did a quick rescan. I'm just getting started and have a small number of tracks loaded. Never did see the "circle" indicating server starting or connecting. Other posts suggest some drives will drop the USB link, which may be part of the problem scenarios. I have not seen this in my setup. Works just like you would expect or want.
