If anyone wants to get a feeling if this can work or not, there is now a test applet in my testing repository that show a "Don't touch me" message when you are getting close to the device.
You need to setup my test repository in SBS Settings/Plugins to see the new "Proximity Action" applet: http://erlandplugins.googlecode.com/svn/repository/trunk/testing.xml (You install it through Settings/Advanced/Applet Installer) It uses a bit of CPU at the moment, so you probably don't want to use this together with TinySC as it will probably slow down TinySC even more. However, I tried with with active VU meters so it's not that bad. Note, this is just a quick test to show the concept, I need some ideas how it would be possible to use this to something useful. >From my testing I don't think the proximity sensor works good enough for a completely safe "Don't touch" party mode message. It works fairly god as long as I reach for the device from the left side but on the right side it's possible to sneak in and touch it. It currently checks the proximity 10 times per second, it might possible to increase that to make it faster and it might be possible to decrease it to get better performance. I'd like some feedback regarding how sensitive your Touch is, does the applet work, in what cases doesn't it work ? What does the number below the "Don't touch me" message say for different distances ? One use case that I personally feel it might work for is to automatically switch back to the large font skin if I haven't touched the device for a while and haven't been within the proximity for a while. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77356 _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
