(addressing the firmware update issue only) Is Squeezebox Server version 7.5.1 available for your NAS? The version you have must be older than the current Squeezebox Server release of 7.5.1, which is why whenever the Touch connects to MySqueezebox.com, it prompts you to upgrade the firmware. If you can install Squeezebox Server 7.5.1 on the NAS you should no longer be prompted to upgrade.
