You are absolutely correct. Despite being a computer professional, I still don't have a good working model of the interaction between servers. The SB3 is usually connected to mysqueezebox.com, which doesn't have any "remote" settings. So I connected it to my local server, selected the settings->player->SB3->remote tab and unchecked the "slim devices remote codes" check box. After that, I reconnected to mysqueezebox.com and sure enough, it now ignores commands from the Boom remote.
