Do you realize that if Stereophile ever dared to place the $300 Squeezebox Touch in the Class A category along side items costing 10 to 20 times as much their advertising revenue would drop faster than a stone. Something like that is NEVER going to happen. In spite of editor's John Atkinson proclaiming otherwise, Stereophile, along with TAS, continue to carry over many of the beliefs from the analog domain into the digital domain. For example all the nonsense about the USB output sounding better than the SPDIF output. And can someone please explain to me why a device like the Touch, which uses a buffer in the data stream and therefore does not suffer from the same kind of timing issues that plague real time devices like CD players and CD transports, shouldn't deliver performance at or above the level of even the most expensive CD transport. By all means the Touch deserves to be rated Class A or B when used solely as a digital receiver. But as I said,if that happens then the house cards, which is much of high end digital audio, comes tumbling down. -- ralphpnj Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels -> Snatch -> The Transporter -> Transporter 2 (oops) -> Touch 'Last.fm' (http://www.last.fm/user/jazzfann/) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ralphpnj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81346 _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
