Or, it speaks to a personality type common in people who work in engineering and IT, that if they know and understand A and B, they will inherently know and understand C, even though they have no prior background or knowledge of C. Needless to say, that attitude can be rather counter-productive. I'm a non-techie type. I think I have "mastered" the use of the SB product line, by working through problems and adapting it over a number of years. I'd say that my general lack of understanding of networking and the underlying technology has been a plus, not a minus.
