Hi Gary,
This afternoon I took your advice above and placed the Touch at the
side of the Modem/Router, plugged in the ethernet cable directly
between the two and plugged in the PSU. Ethernet connection was almost
instantaneous  -  result!!
>From this I conclude that the switch may be the problem so tomorrow I
plan to take a long cable directly from Router to Touch situated at the
side of my PC. I'll keep you posted.
