OK, I've confirmed it is somehow related to the transcoding on the NAS
server. Last night I successfully ran a PC version of SBS on my laptop
(Windows XP, SBS 7.5.3 r31792). The 24/96 ALAC file played correctly,
presumably after some transcode.

One difference I noticed between the two servers: the Advanced\File
Type options for Apple Lossless FLAC stream on the laptop server was
set to faad/SOX but the Synology version was set to FLAC/ALAC. There
were no option for faad/SOX on the Synology server drop down. To be
honest, I'm not 100% I know what these options do but I assume it sets
the format to transcode the Apple Lossless into before it is sent to
Touch. I don't know what SOX is but I understand faad is AAC related
which is NOT a lossless format.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
