"Tuning" or "adapting" basically means choosing a HDD that has been
proven to play well with TinySBS, having a sensible directory
structure, having tags and album art in good shape, having a solid
network, transferring files via Samba instead of frequently
disconnecting the USB drive, and some tips re scanning. It's not
exactly heavy duty customization, but obviously it's your choice
whether you want to get into that.

However, the Touch's hardware resources are borderline for a large
library, and if you don't tune or adapt to that fact -- or switch to a
separate server solution or a different network music system entirely
-- I think you're in for continued frustration. I don't anticipate any
big breakthroughs with TinySBS that will suddenly pull more performance
out of the existing hardware.
