Thanks for all the points everyone. I'll re-evaluate things from here and may use PC/laptop with server installed if NAS installation is too wretched.
I'm risking another question, which'll probably again show my lack of understanding, BUT.... .... could I install the SB Server on my laptop, point it at the music files on the NAS and run it through to the Squeezebox?
